Abstract
The world of work, for a long time, can no longer be considered foreign to the use of drugs and alcohol because, in fact, most subjects devoted to the consumption of abuse sots today seems to be composed of people of working age. The use of psychotropic substances in the workplace is associated with an increased risk of accidents with possible harm to the worker and others. They are relevant from this point of view: alterations in reactivity, perception and judgment of criteria. The effects of drugs and alcohol on the organs such as the liver, brain and heart are well known.The scientific literature examined at least four possible effects of the use of drugs and alcohol on the organs of relevance otorhinolaryngology:
• The possible relationship with the onset of upper respiratory tract cancer;
• Effects on the upper respiratory tract
• Effects on the oral cavity
• Modifications to the audio-vestibular channels.
The subject of this study will be, in the light of the most current literature, to assess hearing disorders and vertiginous syndrome, attributable to the use of alcohol and drugs. Also our intention will be to formulate a practical protocol for the occupational physician in synergy with the E.N.T. specialist
